Ravenswing Indie Night

Friday, December 1, 2006
Avant-Garde Bar
135 ½ Besserer Street
Doors open at 7:30pm
Admission is $5, sliding scale.

The Ravenswing Indie Night will feature Ottawa zinesters and performers. At the event you will find a zine launch of Sound Mind, the acoustic stylings of Katie Regan, and a workshop on freelance writing by Adam Thomlison, author of We Were Writers of Disastrous Love Affairs Magazine. The evening will also include a public showing of the movie A Hundred Dollars and a T-Shirt, a documentary about independent publishing by the American zine publisher Microcosm Publishing.

In addition to an evening of entertainment, come out for the chance to win prizes from local independent book stores and small presses like Octopus Books, After Stonewall, Mother Tongue Books, ByWords Quarterly, Dusty Owl Press, and Above/Ground Press.

The Ravenswing Indie Night is a fundraiser for the Ravenswing D-I-Y Fair. The Ravenswing D-I-Y Fair showcases local artisans and writers and provides an afternoon hub of conversation and independent thinking in urban Ottawa.
